The new HyperOS 3 update is not necessarily the best. Before updating POCO F5 Pro (mondrian), read reviews on XDA Developers or the Mi Community forum. If installing full ROM or the new OTA update caused issues, please let us know in the comments and mention the firmware region and version number.
Device: Redmi K60 (codename: mondrian) / POCO F5 Pro
Current firmware: HyperOS OS1.0.14.0.UMNMIXM (Global)
Target firmware: HyperOS OS3.0.5.0.VMNMIXM (Global)
Issue:
I am trying to update my Redmi K60 (Global variant) from OS1.0.14.0.UMNMIXM to the latest OS3.0.5.0.VMNMIXM.
I downloaded the official OTA full package (mondrian_global-ota_full-OS3.0.5.0.VMNMIXM-user-15.0-15a5ad376e.zip) directly from the device’s built-in Updater app. When I try to reboot and install it, the phone boots into HyperOS Recovery (Main Menu) and shows the error:
“This system version can’t be installed on this device”
The recovery screen only shows options: Reboot, Wipe Data, Connect with MIAssistant, and Safe mode. The update does not proceed further and the phone reboots back without updating.
I also tried using Mi Flash Tool (v7.6.8) with my Mi Account logged in and bound to this PC, but I could not find a proper Fastboot ROM for this exact build/version to flash directly, only the OTA package.
What I need help with:
1. Why is this OTA package being rejected by the recovery with “can’t be installed on this device”? Is this related to anti-rollback protection, bootloader lock status, or a mismatch between the OTA package and my current build?
2. Is there a correct Fastboot ROM (not OTA) available for the Global mondrian variant that matches or is close to my current build (OS1.0.14.0.UMNMIXM), so I can flash it safely via Mi Flash Tool?
3. What is the safest recommended path to update this device from OS1.0.14.0.UMNMIXM to a newer stable Global HyperOS version without bricking it?
Any guidance, working download links, or step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Updated to the latest firmware from OTA last night on a Poco F5 Pro, now it the handset no longer recognises my MVNO network other than 2G, searching for networks manually I can see the parent provider at just 4G – UK
