Hello. I’ve been using your products for a while. I live in Mexico and I’m currently in China. Can I buy a Xiaomi 17 here and then install the global ROM?
Technically, you can buy Xiaomi 17 in China and install global firmware on it (it hasn’t been released yet) to use the phone in Mexico. However, we do not recommend doing so. It is better to wait for the global version of the Xiaomi 17 to be released, as Xiaomi has tightened the rules for unlocking the bootloader (without which you cannot install global firmware), and it is quite an adventure. Also, OTA updates may not come to such a phone.
