Just bought an ax9000 router. The signal was very bad. My 3rd bedroom has no signal or only 1 bar. Last time i used ax3600. I have atleast 3 bar of signal inside my 3rd bedroom. Need advise urgenty from anyone on how to increase or improve the signal in ax9000 (Global rom). Thank you.

about 2 months ago got same router global version – have very low emission wifi and I decided to get access to ssh and change on setting wifi. and now is really nice. on this link you have you can find full instruction step by step what you need to do just need to translate to English but is worth good luck.

For anyone looking to update the firmware, you’re better off using OpenWrt. You can find out more information on the main router page from OpenWrt website: https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/ax9000

I stopped waiting for an update from Xiaomi so I am using OpenWrt instead and it’s working really well, the only drawbacks being OpenWrt is a SNAPSHOT version and radio3 requires a different BDF file to work, which can be replaced manually.
You also don’t need to solder the cables on the UART interface to be able to use it.

After the latest firmware upgrade to Chinese firmware for Xiaomi Router AX9000, 1.0.168 ROM, I noticed serious problems of DISCONECTIONS to the MESH network. Mesh (AX9000 main, AX6000 nodes, AX3600 nodes).
Can I downgrade manually the main AX9000??????? (previous version 1.0.165, was perfect, no disconnects at all.)

You need to find a manual about full flashing ROM. Simple downgrade is not avaliable.

Yes. I couldn’t find it too… Then you can go to the service and tell them, that you want to do downgrade.

The equipment seems to be great, but it really sucks in terms of functions. No updates for 2 years, really? It looks as if the equipment has been manufactured and already abandoned by the manufacturer. It is a pity that openwrt on the global version does not work, because it would still save the situation. Even wifi for guests cannot be created, not to mention firewall functions offered by other manufacturers in much cheaper solutions) I still have time to return to the store and I admit that I’m thinking about it because in this case I was disappointed with the equipment. Looking at the update for Europe, the announcement somewhere on the forum that the next update will change the work of wifi6 to 6e does not convince me. Powerful hardware but lack of proper software kills it. For a layman, it is enough, and on the other hand, a layman will not spend so much money.

there is a guest wifi with the phone app, never tested it though. is Europe version same with global?

OpenWrt does run on the device and you have the option to create any sort of wireless networks you like. The only drawback is you need a USB Serial adapter and some wires to connect to the UART interface in order to have access to the bootloader interface. You will need to enable SSH access and disable secure boot through SSH first. Just follow the instructions in the forum here: forum.openwrt.org/t/openwrt-support-for-xiaomi-ax9000/98908/1443
You will need to replace the BDF file for the radio3 antenna though and that is the only antenna which supports 160MHz Wi-Fi.

Can anybody share their experience with this. I am using AX9000 eu global. I know as per paper says that fan is automatically controlled but mine never run ever since. The router gets hot during days and I know the fan isn’t running since I have open the case just to observe. what is the exact conditions for the fan to run? Been using the router with only 5 devices connected wirelessly.

I dont think i was able to overheat the device. I just prefer it running cool and not warm. found some tips for this in forums, disconnecting one pin on fan. it runs but at max speed regardless of temperature

Hi I have the AX9000 global. I want to make it as the main router and connect AX1800 and AX6 (chinese version) as MESH but it doesn’t work, they are not recognized . However, the AX6 can add the AX9000 as mesh but the whole point is to make the AX9000 the main router for “power” Can I update the AX9000 to Chinese ROM to make it work? will it work? or the AX9000 has MESH issues?

hello, I have the European version of the router…unfortunately in the Italian server I don’t see all the smart bulbs, bluetooth gateways and other things that I would see on the Chinese server…but the ax9000 EU router cannot be set to China (on Singapore yes, but I still don’t see all smart products with the Mi Home)…..
in your opinion can I flash the Chinese Rom over EU rom?… is it possibly a reversible process if I wanted to go back to the EU version?

In theory it’s possible. But there is no guarantee, that all features of the router would be work fine.

Honestly 1.5 years without an update on the EU version. It’s a disaster and my last Xiaomi router. Since it was an openwrt product I expected frequent updates. Shame on you Xiaomi, you should have more resources.

why theres no 2022 update to this beast router. you call it a gaming router but lacks about gaming features. asus is far more superior in terms of gaming features on their routers. No antivirus also.

ASUS has more functionality, but the price of that ASUS is higher. As for update, we don’t know, why there’s no updates. This question you need to delegate to the Xiaomi’s developers.

Here you need to check yourself by trial and error, because everything is individual. Such firmware will work on one router, but not on the other.

Hello.. Mi AX9000 router is region CN, but all devices configured on mi APP Xiaomi Home, are on Singapure Region.
Can’t add the router to APP because, is not same region..

This device have only Chinese ROM. The Global version is not prepared yet, because the router is a new product.
