- Released – the official stable firmware has already been released in the specified region and is available for download. The rollout is gradual, so the HyperOS 3 update is not immediately available on Xiaomi.
- Beta – the firmware is in beta testing and the release date of the final version has not yet been determined.
- Date – the approximate release date of HyperOS 3.0 based on Xiaomi’s official schedule.
- N/A – default value. The firmware will be released in the countries where the device is sold, but the exact dates are still unknown.
HyperOS 3 is based on Android 16, but officially supports Android 15. If your Xiaomi phone or tablet is limited to Android version 14, then the new HyperOS 3 won’t be available for it.
The Xiaomi 12 series will not be fully updated, as support for the Xiaomi 12X has officially ended, and the Xiaomi 12 Lite is limited to Android 14. They will therefore continue to run on the previous generation of the operating system.
Xiaomi (aka Mi) branded phones receive two to four major OS updates as standard. Currently, four OS generations have only been released on a few (no longer new) models: Mi 10, Mi 11, Mi 11 LE, Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra. The Mi 11 LE, for example, launched with MIUI 12.5 and has received MIUI 13, MIUI 14, HyperOS 1, and HyperOS 2 in succession.
One of the advantages of Xiaomi smartphones has always been the long-term updates – 3-4 major and 5+ years of security patches (like Xiaomi 13, 14, 15). This is much better than Redmi (2-3 updates) and POCO (1-2 updates).
